Overview
ERT update: US30 removed, new DE40 and USTEC sets. Posted 4 October.
What happened
On the night of 29 September the US30 set opened 16 shorts in about 100 minutes as the Dow climbed, 14.4 lots in total on an $8,650 balance. The next morning price reached the 50% account stop and everything closed near the exact top of the move, -$4,542. The market then fell 700 points. That wiped out three months of profit in one go. It was not news-driven — nothing was scheduled when the stop fired.
What I did
I removed US30 and swapped DE40 and USTEC to new sets. If you run the old files, I'd do the same.
US30 is gone.
Over 1,500 backtests from 2018. With the stop off, 2026 is a great year, but 2019, 2021 and 2022 still lose 55%, 83% and 96%. Wider spacing, fewer series, different targets and smaller size were all tested — nothing was both safe and profitable. Run continuously from 2018, $5,000 turns into $9 by June 2022.
DE40:
Two inputs changed — Buy_Target_RR 0.5 to 0.3 and Sell_Target_RR 1.0 to 0.6. Everything else is the same, and it works on ERT 1.82 and 1.94.
USTEC:
The entry, spacing and grid now follow volatility (ATR) instead of fixed points, with a closer series target (4.5 instead of 9). This one needs ERT 1.94. The trade-off: the old set made far more in 2026 (+554% in the tester vs +33% for the new one) but lost in 2018, 2020 and 2022, with an 80% drop in 2022. The new one is a steadier climb.
Running both on one account
Both sets size their lots from the whole balance, so their drawdowns add up. On one $5,000 account the full-size pair had a 46% worst drop — too close to the 50% stop — so half-size files are also included (half the lot and half the profit target, same trades): the pair's worst drop is 20%. Pick one size per symbol.
Files and switching
1. Remove the US30 chart.
2. Wait until DE40 or USTEC is flat, then load the new set. Magic numbers are unchanged.
3. For USTEC, attach ERT 1.94 first.
Lots
Per $1,000 of balance: full size is 0.10 per $1,000 (0.5 lots at $5,000), half size 0.05.
Risk note
Backtests on IC Markets tick data, not a promise of future returns — 2025-26 were unusually good years for these sets, so judge them on the earlier years. These are grid strategies that add to losing positions; keep the 50% stop on and test on demo first.
